“We are NOT at a tipping point!” York Regional Councillor Carmine Perrelli tells David Menzies

Not again!

At precisely 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Ontario’s York Region (population: 1.2 million) woke up to discover things had changed yet again — for the worse, that is...

That’s because York Region (as well as Windsor-Essex) joined Peel Region and the City of Toronto in the Grey Zone, the most severe kind of lockdown in Ontario.

(Why the ambiguous colour of grey has been chosen to represent such a degree of severity is anyone’s guess...)

And so it was that sit-down restaurants are closed. And fitness facilities. And bingo parlours and movie theatres and ma & pa retail stores, and, as per usual, the big box behemoths such as Walmart and Costco are exempt from such draconian smackdowns.

But the question arises: why?

After all, Toronto and Peel have been in Grey Zone lockdown for weeks. Has that flattened the number of COVID-19 cases? No.

So why does Ontario Premier Doug Ford think that this flawed lockdown strategy will work in other areas of the province?

As well, the association groups for the retail, fitness and food service industries point to data showing that not even one per cent of the total of Wuhan virus cases can be traced back to these three sectors.

And check this out: York Region’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Karim Kurji, recommended against the lockdown!

This fact is especially disconcerting given that Premier Doug “Ontario: Open For Business” Ford has repeatedly said that he is beholden to the advice of medical professionals when it comes to closing down the economy. Does the premier not trust the advice of Dr. Kurji? Heck, even the World Health Organization has advised against closing down the economy. So, what exactly is going on here?

Millions of Ontarians are surely seething that their economic liberties are being curtailed for the sake of flattening the curve of the Wuhan virus, by following a strategy that just doesn’t work in the first place.

One of those Ontarians is Deputy Mayor and Regional and Local Councillor of Richmond Hill, Carmine Perrelli. Check out our interview with the straight-talking Perrelli, who believes the so-called “cure” when it comes to remedying the Wuhan virus is far worse than the actual curse...
