WATCH: CBC refuses to divulge UN Climate Change Conference expenses

CBC is fighting the Ontario government over access to information while simultaneously redacting responses to access to information requests filed by Rebel News into CBC expenses from COP26.

Rebel News used access to information to file for the costs to send the state broadcaster's news teams to the last United Nations climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland in November. However, the amounts of the expenses in the documents returned relating to the 26th edition of the so-called conference of the parties came back redacted.

Rebel News sent a small team of journalists to cover the same United Nations event and the expenses to send UK-based Rebel reporter Lewis Brackpool and his videographer to Glasgow were crowdfunded by Rebel News viewers.

CBC's largest funding source is the nearly 1.5 billion dollars worth of annual government subsidies and because the network is a crown corporation wholly owned by the federal government, it is subject to information laws.

Rebel News is launching an appeal to CBC's expense redactions. To contribute to our independent, viewer-supported investigative journalism, consider making a donation at www.RebelInvestigates.com
