Dr. Tam's Tips: Stop kissing, wear a mask during sex
Canada's Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam is continuing the trend of government advice on how to lessen the chances of spreading COVID-19 through sex.
"Skip kissing and consider wearing a mask when having sex to protect yourself from catching the coronavirus," Tam's tip reads, adding that, “going solo remains the lowest risk sexual option in a pandemic.”
Dr. Tam also admits that while there's little chance of catching coronavirus from bodily fluids, it's best not to risk it — especially if by kissing.
She also advises partners to skip kissing; wear a mask during sex; and to monitor your partner for symptoms ahead of sexual activity.
Right now Canada is hovering below 6,000 active coronavirus cases, with seven provinces/territories having six or less cases.
The total case count was around 30,000 in July, until it was discovered that about 25,000 cases in Quebec were being improperly tracked and were quickly taken off the books.
Overnight, Canada's case numbers dropped by approximately 80 per cent.
