Common sense was the first casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic

I once tweeted that the first casualty of COVID was common sense.

The second casualty was the sad demise of so many seniors in nursing homes which could have been any of our parents or grandparents. But these deaths had very little to do with COVID — they were surrounded by corruption, greed and mismanagement. Unfortunately, these deaths count as deaths for the pandemic, and are a good way to keep the numbers inflated.

The third casualty of COVID was the cooperation and communication between our governments whether Central, Provincial or Municipal  and the medical field.

But the fourth casualty was of law and order. As we've seen in recent days with the rise in gun violence in Toronto, where on a given day there are more violence-related deaths than those due to the virus.

Where are the police? Perhaps too busy chasing journalists who are exposing the truth, or harassing mothers in public parks with their kids.

Canadians are confused enough with COVID-19, and our leaders seem to be doing their best to add to the confusion.

Let’s take Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, as an example. She previously said in a press conference that while face masks can cut down on the spread of the coronavirus when worn by someone already infected, it does little for healthy individuals.

Here’s what she says now:

Canada’s top public-health doctor says wearing masks is a way for people who might have COVID-19 without realizing it to keep from spreading the illness to others.

So, which is it?

She’s contradicted herself over and over again during this crisis, on masks, on the risk level, on travel restrictions, and more!

To add to the stress for the common citizen, those who criticize Dr. Tam, (in our so-called free country) are immediately slapped with a racism label.

Stupidity is not a race, so calling someone stupid is NOT racist.

Even Premier Doug Ford was confused about the rules, after Ontario's public health officials issued warnings about having visitors over during the Thanksgiving holidays.

Ontario’s Associate Medical Officer of Health and Toronto Medical Officer of Health told people to mark Thanksgiving with only members of their immediate household and forgo big family dinners. However, Ford told reporters that residents should use their own judgement and practice “common sense” when it comes to Thanksgiving.

I don’t see the common sense in seeing young school kids being forced to wear masks for six hours at school  it's suffocating even for adults, so why are poor kids being made to suffer?

But there's more!

To add to the confusion and government scrambling even more, Dr. David Nabarro, the WHO's Special Envoy on COVID-19, says to stop the lockdowns. He stated, "We really do appeal to all world leaders: stop using lockdown as your primary control method" adding that lockdowns have caused negative consequences across the world.

When does it end? When we get a vaccine, of course.

And when is that coming? Your confused guess is as good as mine.
