Rebel News' Avi Yemini appeared on Israel's Channel 14 news to explain why he left his life and family behind in Australia to cover the Israel-Hamas war.

Avi has been in Israel for two weeks covering the conflict between Israel and the terrorist group, which launched a surprise attack on October 7 that left over 1,600 Israelis dead and over 210 taken hostage in the Gaza Strip. Since then he has driven across the country, from the southern communities on the Gazan border, to the northern border with Lebanon, where tensions have been heating up as Hezbollah continues to provoke Israeli forces. Avi has risked his life reporting in southern cities like Sderot, in which rocket fire from the Strip is a part of daily life.

Lital Shemesh brought Avi on to discuss why it was so important for him to head to Israel to cover the war. They discussed how the foreign media's portrayal of Israel in the immediate aftermath of the October 7 attack was sympathetic, but that this could not last long. "After two days, I knew that it would immediately return to the same nonsense," Avi said. "That Israel is the bad guy, and Hamas are the poor ones in Gaza. So I knew I had to come here to show the world what the truth is of the story."
